Design Style: Transitional

By Lindsay Wakeman

Welcome back for the final style in the design series: transitional design! This style basically combines elements from the traditional and contemporary designs. The final look is really pretty and classic in my opinion.

This style uses neutral colors to keep the look clean, and classy. When it comes to the decor in the room, you will typically see the less is better (minimalist) approach so that the decor does not take away from the clean look of the room. Next, there is a really neat use of pattern within this design style. The patterns work because of the neutral palette that is used in the room, so there is not any clashing. You might see the use of leather within this style as well, because the brown leather looks beautiful with the neutral colors used in the rest of the room. Lastly, the furniture will utilize curved and straight lines, which is a combination of traditional and contemporary design.
