Design Style: Traditional

By Lindsay Wakeman

It is time for the first of five design specific blog posts…if you couldn’t tell by the title, this week is the Traditional design style! (This style is one of my two favorite styles, you’ll just have to stay tuned to find out the other favorite of mine!)

The Traditional style includes unique and intricate details on the pieces. You will probably find a more antique look to this style, and it will reflect the 18th and 19th century designs. I like to think of this style as the classic and timeless look, as it has been around for centuries, and it gives your space an elegant look. This style is usually identified with detailed woodwork, carved moldings, elegant draperies, framed wall decor, an overall use of neutral colors, oh – and chandeliers!!!

Can you see the common elements that I mentioned above? In my opinion, this is the easiest style to pick out due to all of the details that fall into this category. I don’t know about you, but I really do feel like I am taking a little blast to the past when I walk into a traditional style room!

Well, this concludes the traditional style for now. If you find yourself loving this style like me, you can do a little more research and view more images. Stay tuned for the other four styles I will be covering in the weeks to come!
